I received the below from a member of the Nebraska's Grand Lodge Education Committee and thought y'all might find it of interest. Good evening my Masonic friends, Last week, I finished Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol" and was very pleased with how well we came off in his book. My wife also read it and this lead to some very interesting discussions as one might imagine. This evening, I was reading the blog of Christopher L. Hodapp, the editor of the "Journal of The Masonic Society." He is the author of the best-selling "Freemasons For Dummies. He had a copy of a letter from Dan Brown and I thought you would find it very interesting. I hope you've had an excellent Thanksgiving. Fraternally ************** Dan Brown was asked to address the Scottish Rite-SJ's annual gathering in Washington DC this past week, but because of his schedule, could not be there. A copy of his letter can be found at: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mwIrvjgUWmc/Ss43MWeEtkI/AAAAAAAACcE/TD-omeERFXI/s1 600-h/DanBrownLetter.jpg It reads in part: In the past few weeks, as you might imagine, I have been repeatedly asked what attracted me to the Masons so strongly as to make it a central point of my book. My reply is always the same: "In a world where men do battle over whose definition of God is most accurate, I cannot adequately express the deep respect and admiration I feel toward an organization in which men of differing faiths are able to 'break bread together' in a bond of brotherhood, friendship, and camaraderie." Please accept my humble thanks for the noble example you set for humankind. It is my sincere hope that the Masonic community recognizes The Lost Symbol for what it truly is.an earnest attempt to reverentially explore the history and beauty of Masonic Philosophy. Yours sincerely, Dan Brown Oct. 06, 2009 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
