January 22nd is the night....let me say that again..... January 22nd....6pm....VMC I have attached the flyer again in an MS Word doc file. Please print it out and hand it around. If you, friends or whomever are going to attend.....please *PLEASE RSVP!!!!* We can fit in about 180 people...we had 145+ last year and word has gone round so it should be a full house.......and over 21 please..... Here's the gist of the Burns Night Committee mtg:(please read on at end of this droning....I plead for help at the end....) - Brother Preston Marshall and his Jacobite Society members will be assisting with the readings...Bro Preston has extensive experience running Burns Night Dinners and will be putting together the program and selecting the readings. - VWB Jim Thompson is taking care of the liquor license and supplying several gallons of Wa4 brewing crew's latest homebrewing effort. - Bro John West will be contacting Tigard Brewpub for 3 pony kegs of the lovely Scotch Ale we enjoyed last year. - WB Bill Mellon is in charge of kitchen crew - WB Rob Pickett is in charge of bar and bar crew - WB Rob Hale is smoking/cooking the tri-tip and chicken We need help...... *Set-up:* I'll be getting to VMC quite early and would like to get the dining hall setup as early as possible. Like noon-ish. We will need about 3 or 4 people here. *Kitchen crew:* this is an ongoing gig.....prep, cook and a separate cleanup crew. (several of us were there all day and finished cleanup at nearly 3 am....I owe you WB Hank and Bro Todd....) *Servers:* this is new this year. Although we bought massive amounts of food...people served themselves...rather heavily. As a result we threw away heaps of tri-tip, chicken and haggis and about 8-10 people at the end of the line got no meat whatsoever.......none. This year we need to have servers, and people have a choice of tri-tip *OR* chicken and some haggis. Unfortunately we have to do this. We need more help than last year. If we get a few more people it'll go a lot easier on everyone. Please consider lending a hand.....this is a great way for us to promote Freemasonry....not a specific lodge, the fraternity as a whole. Some final reminders.... - Please avoid recruiting.....some people had their arms twisted fairly heavily about Masonry.......this is a no-no. Answer questions if asked, but no stepping over the line. It looks like an Amway Dinner ambush if we do this. Seriously. - Please do not encourage attendees under 21 years of age....this could be a nasty liability issue and Rob will have his hands full at the bar without having to ask for ID's. So.....more soon. We will start at 10:00 AM and hope to get to Mark's between noon and 1:00 PM. We will be putting "Mark's" float in our new 53' storage container we recently purchased and had delivered to the VMC.
